Winter Concert Information letter
Dear Orchestra Parents,
It’s hard to believe it, but our Winter Concert is just around the corner! Our orchestra students are eager to perform for all of you and we look forward to seeing you at the concert to help celebrate their hard work and preparation for this wonderful event. Please plan to attend and bring family members, friends, and neighbors as well.
Our evening performance will take place on Friday, December 8th at 6:30 pm in the auditorium at Long Reach High School. Students will be expected to arrive by 6 pm to tune and warm-up. Please enter the building through the side door by the auditorium (not the front main entrance). Signs will be put up at the high school so students can find their way around.
We are in need of a few parents to serve as chaperones to keep an eye on students in the hallway, prior to their ensemble’s performance. About 5 or 6 parents would be ideal for our 3rd graders and about 3 or 4 for our 4th graders. Once your child’s ensemble is seated on stage, you will be able to enjoy their performance in the auditorium.
Concert attire is black and white. Students need to wear black pants or a black skirt (knee-length or longer), a white shirt with no graphics or writing, and clean black shoes. Ties are not required. There is to be no headgear worn during the performances unless the headgear is worn for religious reasons and is in compliance with HCPSS policy. Exceptions can be made for medical purposes. Please note that it is not necessary to purchase new clothes for the performances.
The in-school assembly is on Friday, December 8th at 3:00 pm in the cafeteria at Waterloo E.S. Your child does not need to wear concert black and white for this performance; regular school clothes are fine. The report times for our students just before concert time are 2:40 pm for 4th and 5th graders and 2:50 pm for 3rd graders. We will be storing instruments in the art/music “swing” room just across from the Waterloo cafeteria/auditorium prior to the assembly.
Should you have any questions or require clarification please don’t hesitate to contact me. Thank you very much for your support of our instrumental music program. We look forward to seeing you at the concert!
